CoSky - Study Visit to Norway
The visit was a key element of the CoSky initiative, which focuses on enhancing the operational use of drones in crisis management in Poland and Norway while fostering long-term collaboration in these areas.
The program included meetings with representatives of the Norwegian police at the Police National Emergency Response Center in Oslo and crisis management services at the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Bodo. JRCC, responsible for coordinating all rescue operations in northern Norway, integrates the activities of various services, such as police, fire services, medical rescue teams (land, sea, and air), the coast guard, military aviation, and other governmental and non-governmental organizations involved in crisis management.
During the visit, participants had the opportunity to:
- Discuss and compare procedures for using drones and sharing spatial data by rescue services and police in Poland and Norway.
- Exchange best practices in designing and equipping operational vehicles for UAV teams.
- Analyze the functionality of situational awareness applications for pilots, such as HemsWX, SkyPilot, DroneTower, DSS Służby, and Search&Help.
- Gather insights for project reports and future action plans.
- Discuss potential future initiatives under the Norway Grants program.
The CoSky project will conclude with a Final Conference scheduled for February 18, 2025, at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. The event will showcase the project’s outcomes and explore opportunities for further collaboration. We kindly invite you to join us!
