About Us
The Crisis Information Centre (CIK CBK PAN), operating at the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Science, is a team of geo-information and crisis management specialists experienced in working in operational conditions.
The mission of the Crisis Information Centre is to increase the effectiveness of activities in the area of crisis management and rescue by:
- making effective use of existing technical capabilities the field of in geospatial information,
- developing new methods and tools in this field, in particular applications of satellite techniques,
- increasing awareness and competence in the use of satellite techniques and geoinformation by organising training, exercises and demonstrations and by testing new technical solutions.
CIK CBK PAN offers the following services to users from the area of crisis management, rescue and civil protection, public security and non-governmental organisations:
- operational support during operations,
- support for analytical and planning processes,
- participation in exercises,
- organisation of training courses and simulations,
- testing the usability of new, pre-operational technical solutions during exercises.
TEAM
Jakub Ryzenko – Head of Crisis Information Centre
Jakub is a specialist in the field of space politics, international co-operation in space activities, usage of satellite techniques in the field of safety and system engineering (managing of complex engineering projects). In 2004-2008 he was Head of Polish Space Office. Since then he is strongly involved in promotion of usage of satellite techniques in Poland. After that he was an advisor for Ministry of Economics in the field of space politics, Polish Presidency in EU expert in the field of usage of new technologies and satellite techniques for civil safety. In 2011-2013 was involved in process of joining Poland into European Space Agency. For many years involved in new satellite techniques usage development for safety. Since 2013 Head of Crisis Information Centre CBK, initiator of many projects in usage of satellite techniques for rescue and crisis management.
Anna Foks-Ryznar – Deputy Head of Crisis Information Centre
Anna is a project manager with more than 12 years of experience. She holds a Ph.D. in satellite geodesy. Graduating from Warsaw University of Technology, Anna joined the department of planetary geodesy of the Space Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences, undertaking research within the field of time transfer via satellites. Advancing into project management, Anna managed international and national technical research projects, including FP7, H2020, the EU Operational Programmes and European Space Agency contracts. She has vast experience in designing, testing and evaluating new technologies in the field of disaster management and rescue operations with a special focus on solutions based on satellite data as well as UAV remote sensing.
Katarzyna Dąbrowska – Crisis Management Specialist
Katarzyna is graduate of the Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw. Her main area of interest is the implementation of new technologies in decision making processes. She joined CIK in March 2019. She organizes demonstrations, trainings and workshops on the use of modern technologies and satellite data in the activities of security sector entities. Responsible for contact with users of the Customer Service System (SOK) created as part of the Sat4Envi project.
Anna Dembińska – Spatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist
Ania is a graduate of University of Warsaw, Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies. She graduated following specializations with honours: geoinformatics, cartography and remote sensing. Since April, 2016 she is a part of CIK Team. Her main scientific interests are: geoinformatic and remote sensing, especially vegetation monitoring and crisis management.
Jakub Dzik – Crisis Management Specialist
Jakub is a graduate of the War Studies University. He specializes in the practical use of spatial information systems for the needs of crisis management, rescue operations and medical rescue. He has experience and practical skills in crisis management. He actively participated in the implementation of new technologies supporting decision-making and coordication during the flood in Poland in 2010, the COVID-19 epidemic or the migration crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
Marta Milczarek – Spatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist
Marta is a geographer, graduate of University of Warsaw, Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies. Her specializations are: geoinformatics & remote sensing and geomorphology. Since the end of 2013, she has been working at the Crisis Information Centre where she deals with satellite imagery processing and prepares maps and analyses combining various geospatial data with the use of GIS for the need of crisis management, public security units and development assistance.
Anna Nałęcz-Kobierzycka - Expert on implementations in the public sector
Anna has graduated the Institute of International Relations at the University of Warsaw. She specializes in space policy, international cooperation in space activities and relations between the European Union and the European Space Agency. She participated in Poland's accession negotiations to the ESA and represented Poland in the work of this organization. Co-author and editor of the "Polish Space Strategy" adopted by the government in January 2017. In CIK CBK PAN focuses on supporting the implementation of new satellite technologies and techniques in public administration.
Emil Wrzosek – Crisis Management Specialist
Emil has graduated Civil Safety Engineering in The Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw. His main field of interest is planning and conducting simulation games, exercises and trainings. In his work he focuses on multi-surface view related to civil safety. Member of the CIK since March 2014. He is currently involved in organising table top exercises and demonstrations that are related among others terrorist safety or CBRNe. His goal is to prepare table top exercise at highest possible level. He leads the ARTION - Disaster Management Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Network project.
Joséphine Boineau - Assistant Project Coordinator
Joséphine is a graduate of the University of Bordeaux Montaigne in France, where she completed her Master's degree in International Project Management. Foreign languages are her particular forte: she is bilingual in Polish and French and speaks fluent English, Italian and German. She joined the Crisis Information Centre CBK PAN team in October 2023 and is in charge of coordinating international projects and a number of organisational and administrative matters.
Ewa Bubula - Geospatial Analyst
Ewa is a final year master's student at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Her scientific interests include issues related to remote sensing and land use change analysis. She holds an A1/A2/A3 and NSTS-01 drone pilot license. In June 2023, she joined the Crisis Information Center team of CBK PAN, where she supports the team's activities in various projects.
