Webinar Invitation: "Traffic over our heads: enabling (multiple) UAV flight" on 14th of December 2023
All interested parties are invited to participate in a webinar discussing the simultaneous flying of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a disaster situation (e.g. flooding). The webinar is hosted in collaboration with the COVALEX project.
Date: 14 December 2023
Time: 15:00 - 16:30 CET
Format: remote (link to meeting on Zoom platform)
The increasing use of UAVs in crisis situations is making flight operations over the crisis area more complex. UAV flights are performed rapidly and can be carried out by multiple actors simultaneously, so ensuring safety and good coordination of air traffic is currently a challenge. An additional element contributing to the complexity of the air situation is manned aircraft flights. Currently, standard practice is to halt manned flights when UAV flights start, or conversely to halt drone flights when manned flights (e.g. helicopter, aircraft) start. The webinar will focus on ways and means to change this situation to enable safe and effectively coordinated flights of both types of aviation during an emergency operation.
The speakers will be Crisis Information Centre representatives:
Speakers:
- Jakub Ryzenko - Head of the Crisis Information Centre (CIK CBK PAN), specialist in space policy, international cooperation in space activities, use of satellite techniques in the area of security and systems engineering,
- Emil Wrzosek - Crisis Management Specialist at the Crisis Information Centre (CIK CBK PAN), expert in planning and conducting simulation games, exercises and training.
The moderator of the meeting will be Jasmina Schmidt (research assistant, Disaster Competence Network Austria - DCNA).
