Water extent maps in south-eastern Poland (new maps added on 27 May)

The following maps have been prepared, showing the extent of water in the area of:

• Zgórski Stream and fish ponds between the towns of Wadowice Dolne and Izbiska in the commune of Wadowice Górne in the Mielec poviat (Podkarpackie Province),
• Czarna River (a tributary of the Wisłok River) in the south-eastern part of the Lisia Góra commune in the Tarnów poviat (Małopolskie Province),
• Olszynka River (the tributary of the Wisłoka River) near the village Święcany in the commune of Skołyszyn in the Jasło poviat (Podkarpackie Province).

Flooded areas are marked in light blue. The maps were developed on the basis of Sentinel-1 radar images taken on 22-23 May 2019, around 6:50 AM.

The Government Centre for Security informs that currently the alert level is exceeded on 26 water gauges in the Vistula basin and 2 in the Oder basin, while the warning level is exceeded on 53 water gauges in the Vistula basin and on 23 in the Oder basin. Today (23 May 2019) in Silesia, Lesser Poland and Subcarpathia it may still rain heavily. 

Current alerts and warnings are published on the website of the Government Centre for Security.

Update from 27 May:

Based on data from 26 May 2019 at 8:18 PM the following water extent maps were developed:

• the mouth of the San into the Vistula (Podkarpackie Province)
• the mouths of the rivers: Trzaśniówka and Łęg into the Vistula in the commune of Gorzyce, Tarnobrzeg poviat (Podkarpackie Province)

Based on the optical satellite image of 27 May 2019 at 11:31 AM a map has been prepared for the area of:

• the mouth of the San into the Vistula (Podkarpackie Province)

Update from 24 May:

On 24 May the following water extent maps have been developed for:

• area near the village of Suchy Grunt in the commune of Szczucin in the Dąbrowski poviat (Małopolskie Province),
• the mouth of the Żabnica River into the Breń River in the commune of Olesno in the Dąbrowski poviat (Małopolskie Poviat).
