Situation maps of the Pieniny Dunajec River Gorge
Intensive rainfall in the period of 18-19 July 2018 contributed to water level rising and local flooding in the southern Małopolska region. Indirect effects of precipitation can be observed on Sentinel-2 satellite images.
Two situation maps for the Pieniny Dunajec River Gorge were prepared. Map of 4 June 2018 (A) presents the situation before the occurence of intense rainfall. The map of 22 July 2018 (B) presents the status of water after rains. Visible change in water color below the dam on Czorsztyn Lake is caused by accumulated sediments, which were eroded from the catchment area. The difference in the color of Sromowieckie Lake and Czorsztyn Lake is related to the depth of both reservoirs and the amount of suspension in the water.
