Geoinformation Guide: OpenStreetMap
Today's "Geoinformation Guide" series concerns the global OpenStreetMap project, which allows us to view and retrieve free vector data.
OpenStreetMap is a global community project designed to create a free and easily available world map. Every registered user can create and edit maps. OSM thematic layers are not only information about the communication network, river network, location and land cover, but also information about hiking trails, surface conditions, power lines and much more.
The data can be viewed and co-created at: http://www.openstreetmap.org/
If you want to learn how to download the data from the OSM project, we encourage you to read the following manual.
