ESA has opened access to Sentinel-2A data
Data from launched on June 23th European satellite Sentinel-2A can be downloaded for free from Sentinel Scientific Data Hub website after registration. Available images cover for now only the time since 28th of November 2015. Data from earlier dates will be available after they will be processed.
Sentinel-2A pictures area of Earth between parallel 84°N and 56°S by using Multi Spectral Imager (MSI). MSI has 13 channels available in spectral range from 443 nm to 2190 nm. Spatial resolution is between 10 m for 4 channels of visible range and NIR, by 20 m for 6 channels in IR and 60 m for 3 channels for atmospheric correction. Radiometric resolution of MSI sensor is 12 bit.
In following year there are plans to launch twin satellite Sentinel-2B.
