DRIVER +, reactivated DRIVER project
DRIVER + is a project implemented from the 7th Framework Program of European Commission, which was resumed after the suspension of the DRIVER project. The idea of the project is to use innovative solutions in crisis management in order to increase the resilience and preparation of the EU society for natural disasters or terrorist threats. Among the three main objectives of the project are:
- Establishing of a European Test Environment available for crisis management units,
- Congregating a range of solutions used in crisis management,
- Facilitating a common understanding of crisis management in Europe, through the wider cooperation of European entities.
The Crisis Information Centre of the Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences is an important partner of the project. CIK participates in a significant part of project tasks and coordinates activities in the preparation of so-called Trials. Trials are meant to check the application and usability of innovative solutions submitted to Call for Application. Moreover, Trials intend to develop the Handbook for systematic designing of Trials for practitioners.
